The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs welcomes retired Lt. Gen. In-Bum Chun of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army.
Chun served 38 years in the South Korean Army before retiring in 2016. During his military career, he commanded combat units from the platoon to division level. His final assignment was as commanding general of the ROK Special Forces. He also served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Chun is president of the Society for Army Alliance Korea and the Korean AI Security Association. He is a senior fellow with the Association of the United States Army, a distinguished military fellow with the Institute for Security and Development Policy in Sweden, and an adjunct researcher at Waseda University in Japan.
He advises numerous organizations, including the National Institute for Deterrence Studies, the National Bureau of Asian Research, the Korean Counter Terrorism Center, and the city of Seongnam. He is also an active content creator in Korea and an advocate for animal welfare.
